Message from IAMOT President
Dear IAMOT Conference Attendees,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the 24th annual conference of the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT) in beautiful South Africa.
Since it was founded about 25 years ago, IAMOT has been a unique organization that is multidisciplinary, multicultural and international. This combination of characteristics makes it a particularly valuable association for academicians and technology professionals. The multidisciplinary and international characteristics provide an opportunity for academic collaborations on research problems that transcend academic and national boundaries. The multicultural characteristic promotes an understanding of the application and management of technology in different cultural contexts and how these differences can be a source of economic and organizational strength instead of potential conflicts.
The theme of this conference is “Technology, Innovation and Management for Sustainable Growth.” This theme can best be achieved through the IAMOT characteristics that I mentioned above. These same characteristics will continue to make IAMOT relevant to today’s and tomorrow’s economy.
I want to seize this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude on behalf of IAMOT members and conference attendees to our host in South Africa, the members of the conference planning committee, under the leadership of Professor Tinus Pretorius and Professor Leon Pretorius of the University of Pretoria for their excellent job in organizing this conference.
Finally, I want to invite those of you who are attending the IAMOT conference for the first time or who are not members to consider becoming permanent members of the association. Your registration at this conference includes a membership fee for one year and you can continue to be members by renewing your membership when it is due.
John O. Aje, D.Sc.
